Langford Village Academy

Physical Education

In PE at Langford Village Academy, we cover a broad and balanced curriculum with each class receiving two hours of PE a week.

Across the academic year, each class cover invasion games, gymnastics, dance, striking and fielding games, net and wall games and athletics.

Children start off in Foundation being introduced to all the skills which is progressed into key stage 1 where the skills are developed and finally into key stage 2 where the skills are implemented into game play.
Alongside the teaching of the sports skills, our curriculum embeds school values, school games values and life skills.
Outside of PE lessons, we also cover swimming lessons where children in upper key stage 2 are taken to our local swimming centre for a block of 6 lessons.

As part of the residential trips in years 4 and 6, the children experience outdoor and adventurous activities.

The children are also lucky enough to experience a block of forest school activities. This is a time for children to learn outside as well as getting involved in lots of different activities.
