Hair, Jewellery and Make up
It is school policy that hair that is long enough, is tied back at all times. This is to ensure safety during lessons especially PE, Science, D&T and ART. It also helps reduce the transfer of head lice. Loose hair can easily become entangled and caught in equipment.
Extreme fashion hair-cuts and colorants are not allowed.
For safety reasons we ask that children do not wear jewellery in school. A child may wear a watch, but the school cannot accept responsibility for it. If your child has pierced ears, then please make sure they only wear studs to school.
A single charity bracelet may be worn on occasion, however friendship bracelets or the elastic 'crazy/loom bands' are not permitted at school.
PE and Jewellery
Please remember that children are not allowed to wear jewellery of any kind for PE. If a child is wearing earrings to school, they must remove them themselves before the start of a PE session. If a child’s ears are newly pierced, then we recommend that a parent comes in before the session to tape over their child’s ears.
Staff are not permitted to aid in taking out or putting back in earrings, or taping over children’s ears.
This is part of the Central Bedfordshire PE Safety Policy and unfortunately any letters from parents cannot be considered.
It is not appropriate for children to wear makeup of any kind to school. This includes nail varnish and temporary tattoos.
