The School Council is made up of one girl and one boy from each of the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes. They meet at least once a month to discuss issues important to the pupils of the school. They survey, consult and collate information and ideas from their peers, to help decide on which areas of the school they can help to improve. The school councillors also act as positive role models for other pupils and represent the school when we have visitors.
In recent years the school council has set up a healthy tuck shop, campaigned for and raised issues on road safety and has improved the playground toy facilities whilst making the children aware of how to play with them safely.
Eco Schools and Council
Eco schools is a simple frame work which helps us promote and develop sustainability throughout our school. We have 9 topics to work on
4. School grounds
5. Healthy living
9. Global citizenship
The eco committee is a team of year 3/4 children and adults who work on different projects to improve our school. We meet at least once every half term. So far we have achieved bronze and silver awards and working towards the green flag award.
As part of our citizenship/PSHE curriculum KS2 children stand for election for the role of Captain or Vice captain. This involves writing a manifesto and speaking to the children in assemblies. The main role for the KS2 pupils is to help and support younger children throughout the day and at house events.
